I think it looks beautiful...you could remove the small mirror...but honestly it looks very nice..very tastefully done...crosses are great!

If you are looking for suggestions, maybe try the narrow mirror on the wall on the left as you enter and a narrow table or bench under the crosses. If you don't already have one, a large chandelier would be lovely and another way to add character is by painting the interior of your door and pull it all together with a long runner that ties in with the color of the door.

You did a great job! Perfect spacing for these pieces and they work well together without being "matchy." Love it!

No, your foyer is not okay. Crosses are off putting especially with so many of them together right when you walk in. And that mirror is too narrow to be functional. Your entry way to me is missing a table. And then I would let the blank walls stand alone so you can focus on the mouldings. Hang art (not crosses) where needed. And only use a mirror if it's big enough to be functional and usually only over a table otherwise it just becomes awkward (like you're going to stand there and look at yourself or you're going to scare people with an image of themselves right when they walk in) ... a table gives a reason why you would be there or would pause there to look in a mirror.

A small table near the stairs would be nice.

Although I love the color scheme, it would all come more to life with just a little bit of color. Be it only a beautiful plant or two? It is just a bit to sterile for my appetite.

Unlike several others I do like that odd shaped mirror. It is more like art, than functional. Which is very nice, in my opinion. Though on itself beautifully arranged, I too was a bit intimidated by so many black crosses. It is both a reminder of salvation and of torture. It gave me a shudder at first glance. And there is no escaping it in the foyer. I'd rather put it in my study then.

I am too feel a small accent table near the stairs with the darling mirror above..and as was already suggested, a tall buffet lamp and something low....a silver tray or bowl.,,,,??? You DO need a bit more color....it may be slight, but perhaps in the lamp shade and in a beautiful entry carpet. What a lovely home.

That wall next to stairs and entrance to dining room....is to small for a table..but that oval mirror might look cute on that wall instead? Just a thought...and leave the wall it was on empty.

No offense but to me your foyer decor looks like what sophie would call cheap Chinese crapola from Hobby lobby. I think a nice piece of art with a color in it would be better suited.

I think your foyer, with the crosses, is beautiful. Changing the location of the mirror to the small wall next to the stairs as HIWE suggested would be worth a try! Great job!

That was constructive. Art would be better, sorry. She asked if it looks good or not... it doesn't. If someone is offended by that then they shouldn't post such a question. And I'll bet five dollars if they are from Hobby lobby… And from China. Shrug.

I think you might have three beautiful children, and thus, "the peaches"... I think style has nothing to do with cost. I happen to like the ease of placement - there's nothing to be changed, imo. Grand trim is a balance for the tiny symbols I'm supposing you like there. Be free, as we say, as 'they' say... :)

I'm wordy: you might have added lamp and ornate frame....[but where there's room]... in entry like yours, it might not come across like your LR's anyway....?

Thanks all for the great tips and feedback! Honestly I’d love a small table next to the stairs but I had one there for 14 years and just removed it. Never looked right to me and always looked kind of squished in the corner. This wall space is only 29.5” wide. I think it looks bigger in the picture but it’s really too small for a table.

I’ll try to move the mirror there to see how it looks (or maybe a bigger mirror)? Or nothing at all. Oh the holes I see forming on my freshly painted walls lol!

I have this piece of “art.” It would need a new frame and white matte but do you think that would look better on the wall that currently has the narrow mirror? Maybe with a more simplistic wooden frame too? Hmmm...

I think that piece would look great there! Not only would it add color but it's also a place that you love. It speaks more to your character and personality than Chinese made plastic.

No art. The crosses are solid [whatever their material]. The mirror also 'solid'/ nice frame with some detail: to me, that put all in the same look/ category, and more of a unified look.

Personally, I don't like the crosses at all. They look like they were purchased at someplace like Home Goods and was an afterthought when you saw you had some wall space you could fill with something. The mirror is too small to serve any purpose for an entry hall, but someplace else in your house. The ceilings are so high, the idea of painting or wallpaper is out of the question. I'd move everything off the walls, the accent of the walls and the large door that you use to enter another room are elements of design on their own. I would simply put a custom size rug, had edges bound and a nice thick pad, and ask them to make sure it's waterproof. You have a lot of sunlight, and a tall plant could be put at the bottom of the stairs to soften the lines.

I would not hang art on that small wall..leave it blank and move mirror across to the small wall going into dining room....you don’t need something on every wall at all....I would turn your entrance rug the other way...what size is the one you have? You could go bigger and turn it to go more into the entire entrance....add light soft colors like the family room...blue and grays would be very pretty in the foyer.

Maybe something like this next to stairs/dining room with the mirror and tall think buffet lamp. Put the lamp on a timer and have that big of glow in the foyer.

A nice runner would look awesome. I like the picture more than the mirror, but the space would be ok blank. It is a lovely entry.

If that's better, tell why.... it's still ok. Oh -- is there an interesting rug at the front door? Then empty could be ok.

Those crosses are weird. Are they real (antique/heirloom) or from a décor store? They look like the latter.

I totally agree with going with just a runner. Go rug shopping! The ones I've had done - I've gone to a large place.. say "carpet world", not a carpet store with high-end items and commissioned salespeople who will happily have a custom rug designed. Talk to the people at the carpet place, they know their business, tell them what you want, and you'd be surprised at the patterns, how low cost the binding is, the padding and I think you'll be happy. A darker solid gray would be nice, if you chose a pattern other than a muted mix of the same tones, you could easily get sick of it soon. The elegance of the entry hall doesn't need any more "decorations" - as I mentioned, maybe a plant tall enough to soften that corner where the room meets the stairs.

I think your mirror would probably be nice on the other wall. You should try it. Don’t drive anymore nails just to experiment. Use a command hook, if you don’t love the new location of your mini mirror it should peel right off.

I understand your need to put something on the walls, and if you must make it simple - so that it's there but adds to the space rather than sticking out.

If it were me I'd switch out the rug at the door to something gray since you have gray on the stairs and put a tall palm near the stairs and call it a day!

I don't like the crosses or mirror. What about a black and white photo collage. I find the crosses are too overbearing. By photo collage, I mean black and white photos arranged in individual size appropriate frames, not one frame with a zillion pics in it...

Crosses are a little creepy. I've only ever seen them in churches or at funerals.

Guess you’ve never visited a museum??. There are crosses spanning eras and cultures ( e,g., Egyptian petroglyphs and hieroglyphs ... to the present day many variations ). The Louvre?..

Beautiful home! I think the crosses look busy when looking into the family room, I'd prefer nothing there. They do kind of look like a "boxed set". Not up to par with the rest of the space. I like the mirror. And I like a sparsely decorated area when there's a lot of trim. Let the trim be the star.

Three baby Peaches--many have suggested removing the crosses from your foyer for a variety of reasons. If the crosses are there solely for decoration, perhaps they have a point. But, if they are there because they have significant meaning to you and your family, I would humbly recommend keeping them. What they represent is beautiful.

Not a fan of those crosses. BUT,if you like it, that is what matters. I think a larger rug over a thick pad and a plant would be nice additions to your lovely space. I do hope you find a place somewhere for the small piece of art after it is more simply framed. (simple but with an added filet) Looks charming.

Your home is lovely and if you like the crosses/mirror, leave them. If you're happy in your space, that's what matters.

That said, I agree with some of the others...nothing on those walls. A chandelier, a narrow table near the entrance with some greenery and a rug is what I would do...maybe remove mat and get a long runner in same fabric/color. In that small corner b/t stairs and dining room entrance...could you do a tall, narrow piece of sculpture?

I'm in the camp of empty except for a beautiful rug that contains the colors in the art from one of the adjoining rooms. The purpose of the foyer is to introduce you, your style and hint at what to expect as one moves from the foyer into the rooms. Since your entry exposes 3 rooms, you need to pull styles/colors from them into the foyer. Your beautiful woodwork is sufficient decor for this area.

Some on here say leave those walls empty, others say leave it as you have it. Both are equally valid, your walls will look beautiful with nothing on them, however, I’m of the opinion that one’s home should reflect something of the person ( or people) who live there. If you like the crosses and mirror by all means leave them, it doesn’t matter where they’re from and it is your house after all. I know many people on here prefer that their houses have a generic “staged” look but I think the most interesting homes are somewhat eclectic and say something about the residents. My favorite home in my neighborhood belongs to a very well known artist and her house has both very high end Gallery and museum quality pieces as well as objects from thrift stores :)

Beautiful home! That entrance is gorgeous. It stands out on its own without anything on the walls. I would leave bare walls. I do think a chandelier would look great in that space.
