Which one is yours?

It always helps me to view my yard as a "room" ... how would I arrange it were it inside my house? How would I be able to get the most valuable use of the space and still make it pretty?

If your pool, outdoor kitchen, etc. were furniture, where would you put it to maximize space and asthetics?

You need to take into account were the sun will be located during the times you will be using the outdoor spaces. You may want shade over a gathering space in the late afternoon. Tree planting locations should also take into account what views will be blocked and the amount of shade provided in the summer.

Yes, you definitely need a good landscape designer. There is just too many things to take into account. List down all your criteria... includes number of people using the yard to seating for entertainment. Take into account sun and wind factor. Screen for privacy and noise. Pool needs to be in the sunny location.

Just a suggestion, use interlocking bricks by the pool area is excellent as you don't have to worry about cracked or raised cement floor. Good irrigation, drainage and planting will save a lot of money and headaches later on. A good and well planned design is everything.
