31° Thursday morning for me...my grass is already dead and several plants have frost damage from the last freeze...it seems to be short live here at least. Can't remember the last time I ran my "heat" this many mornings in a row Lol...

I do enjoy the cool winter after the brutal summer we've had lately...but if we can stay above freezing that is SO much better :o)

But somehow the dollar weed has survived the cold snaps while so many other have died! Come on! Why can' the cold take out the bad just as well as the good. Lol

Boy do I agree with the dollar weed statement...grass is dead and you a huge dark green spots on the lawn...from far away you think the grass is slowly coming back Lol...but as you get closer you realize Ugh!!!

29 ° this morning as our low..sun's been out for an hour and we've only gotten 1 degree warmer...it's 30 degrees now at 8:20...Whoo Hoo!!

I like dollar weed. Looks like little lilly pads on dry land and cool and soft under foot. I think if i had a whole yard of dollar weed instead of the weeds it is sporting now i would be happy.

I lost most of my tomatoes yet peppers and eggplant are somehow undamaged. Huge blue sky vine was in full bloom yesterday, every leaf is brown today! brugs too. and my salmon colored salvias from last year, all mush! I could have at least saved my tomatoes had I known of the impending frost but my weather app showed a low of 37 for only one hour this morning, not 32 degrees for several hours long! huge difference there.

So sorry to hear that Floridajoes...I agree that forecast is way wrong. Very big difference between freezing temps of 32° and 37°...the long duration was also unexpected :o(

This is very weird...my low forecast for tomorrow morning is 35° but yet I have a "freeze warning" from 12am to 9am tomorrow...not "frost warning or freeze watch". I don't ever remember getting a freeze warning with a low of 35° before?!?

Don't trust the weather man. I assume when they give a freeze warning for east of i75 i cover my plants even tho i am west. I did not uncover my babies so hopefully the sheets helped them. The forecast calls for 37 tonight and that is a mere 5° from freezing so they will stay covered.

I thought my area would stay just above freezing so I did not cover my plants. The leaves on my banana trees, sugar apples, angel trumpets and pentas are all brown. Somehow, the guavas and the hot pepper plants that were right next to them look fine. Citrus plants that are in front of the house also look okay for now.

Citrus should be fine unless you get a hard freeze for many hours. A light freeze will sweeten the fruit.

The silver lining in all this is that our local garden centers will now have plenty of reduced sale plants this weekend...plants that have proven themselves capable of pulling through a frost even in a pot . And you can see what plants where just plain unaffected by the cold

When i lived in the panhandle there was one year that Lowes had a ton of azaleas on clearance after a freeze. They had obviously gotten zapped by the cold. I took a chance and bought some cause they were 50¢ a plant. The full sized pink ones had a 50% success rate when planted in the ground, the dwarf ones had a better continue living rate but they were never healthy looking plants.

Oh that's too bad Pea. I have some fantastic hibiscus that I bought from Lowes a year ago. They were reduced by half simply because the opened flowers were damaged but they were loaded with buds. A few days later they were in full bloom again. They've been blooming ever since. They got absolutely no damage with the frost we just had. Even the flowers look untouched. I was very surprised as they're still potted and sit right on my open deck. I guess they've really toughened up.
