Good to know, Dave! The weather is horrible today, the snow was gone yesterday and it's snowing here now. How do they ship trees in this cold?

That's what I was thinking but that's what the employees told me.... Maybe they use a heated truck.

Terra greenhouses in Halton and Burlington got their citrus trees in earlier this week, too. (Probably same for other GTA Terra locations?) Various lemons, limes, oranges and a few grapefruit trees too. Sorry Dave, didn't see any Cara Caras or blood oranges.

Do you think it's better to wait to buy one until the weather is better? I am new to citrus trees and don't want to kill it on the way home :)

Both plantworld and terra get their citrus from recordbuckfarms. So all the smaller plants are cuttings while the large 10-15 gallons are grafts n their variety is pretty limited.

My ponderosa is from plantworld n 15 gallon limequat , keylime and Meyer lemon from Terra.

Have you seen any blood oranges around here? Maybe Canadian Tire will have them come Spring.

Canadian tire is a hit n miss . One year they had fourwind plants next year nothing . Check with David greenscapegardens.ca he carries quite a few varieties of blood orange.

I have only one just for curiosity . We don't have the required heat to bring color in blood oranges.

Hi Dave - have you checked out Greenscape Gardens? I have no experience with them but they are in the GTA and they do local pickups. They have blood orange varieties, but maybe not the size you're looking for.

I don't want to take over your thread with my newbie questions... but in response to your earlier message do you think a citrus cutting brought home now would face certain death without the extra lights you mentioned? I have a pretty great bay window with lots of SW light. Thanks.

Jem, I don't think it'll die.... especially if it has a nice spot in your home with that perfect window setup. You might lose a few leaves but it'll survive. You can probably get away without a light since you have such a big window facing the sun. If anything, I would buy a thermometer to read temps and humidity level. Try to keep humidity above 40%.

I'll check out Greenscape Gardens and see what they have available... It would be nice to see a bunch of plants in person and pick one out tho.

I agree, Dave - I prefer to pick out my plants in person, too. Please do let us know if you find any blood oranges available locally in the coming months.

I have not yet been but I ran into one of the previous staff who was there for I don't know how many years. Darlene I think it was.. I wonder what the prices are there? Terra off Keel is where I get most of mine. HD has some the odd time. Thanks for the info!

I called Plant World yesterday to enquire about the new order but they only got more of the same trees they already had.... just different sizes and more of them lol.... Just the common Meyer, ponderosa, Orange.... and I ask which type and they think it's Navel... All of their stuff is from Record Buck.... Anyways, I'll try Terra off Keel since I work very close to that area.
