Inexpensive Wall Decor

Hi!!! Any suggestions for more wall decor and accessories to coordinate with these canvases. I’m looking for inexpensive pieces if possible; so places like target, hobby lobby, and Kirkland. Thank you!

Hard to suggest wall decor without knowing more about the space and room. In regards to accessories..what are you looking for - pillows, rug, drapery? Your best bet is to research and find inspiration in rooms that suit your style. For instance, navy and white living rooms. Search Pinterest for specifics, ie: blue rugs. An inexpensive way to add art and also achieve a less off the rack style is to look for posters (add a mat if necessary) and frame (Ikea has very inexpensive frames).

Without seeing your wall and knowing what you’re trying to achieve, I can’t recommend specific items. That being said, the first place I would look is ETSY. The pattern you have is ikat, a textile dying technique commonly used in Uzbekistan. Also Guatemala, Mexico and Japan. You can look at fabric, which is very affordable plates, etc.- after a lot of searching, I found a round ikat tablecloth for $15.

You could also add other modern tribal textiles to the wall.

    Good luck,

I’m decorating a small college apartment. So I don’t have too much much space to fill. I just need something for two walls. Any thing you can suggest will be helpful!

You might look for fabric remnants or sample swatches. Fabric stores - both brick & mortar and online - often have them for sale, sometimes at discounted prices. They can be mounted on foam core, board, or inexpensive canvas - all available @ craft supply stores.

There are tutorials available online that show how to do this. Pinterest and YouTube are 2 places to look.

Here's the first result I got when I used the search term: 'how to make wall art from fabric':

You might consider a mirror, shelving or a grouping of picture frames.

World Market has an assortment of shelving options...

    and this photo holder...

This frame set is from Target.

There are a few decals like this on Etsy. Search on arabesque.

Use engineering prints of online free prints (photos, maps, etc) or of your own photos.

I thought about this in navy

Here's a DIY paper craft idea using paper towel rolls, glue and spray paint...

This one sells on etsy for $80 and uses colored card stock, but you could make it yourself or use the color scheme for any other design.

This funky navy wall hanging from Target is very reasonable (18 by 31).

    Target

Just for fun, here is one of my favorite wall arrangements. Much more expensive and time consuming to collect.

Love d_gw's woven baskets and wall hanging ideas. You could pair the baskets with framed pressed flowers like the ones at this link:

    https://www.athome.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-athome-Site/default/Search-Show?q=accent%20metal%20pressed%20flowers

Wire wall baskets with real or faux potted plants. These baskets are from At Home. You could paint the duck plaque and hang the baskets on it to create this look.

I like all of these pieces from At Home. The large planter is $35, the small is $25.

This piece reminded me of the medallions you posted earlier and comes in several colors. There are squares ones as well. Spray paint makes them any color you want.

If you don't have an At Home store nearby, these two are from Hobby Lobby. Again, spray paint is an easy and inexpensive way to change them to your liking.

Sorry my post is so long!

Love the medallion...... I plan on putting those behind the couch. I think that would be perfect. What do you suggest I put on the wall that currently has the navy wood sign?
I thought navy curtains and a inexpensive rug not sure what color?

    Whew! We're making some progress. : )

So, is the navy wood sign the one that says "Soul" on it? I kinda like it. If you are just tired of it, do you have something personal you could put there?

Can we have a couple of pics that show wider angles to get a better feel for the space? It looks like you have a window near that chair, and it would be nice to see the area with your sofa and corner lamp (?).

I'm stealing the feather idea from Maureen and kjoy1. I think pulling color from your other furnishings onto the walls will help give balance to the space. Here is a nice blue and brown feather print from a seller on etsy (price is for unframed). There are tons of digital downloads of prints like this that you can buy for under $10.

Mirrors help bounce light around the room and can make a space feel bigger. If you have a nice view from the window, a mirror can reflect that into your room.

Not sure if you had your heart set on blue curtains, but I would use the blue in art, pillows and maybe a rug. Hopefully someone else will advise on that.

It might be late to join this conversation but artists offer their work through print on demand sites like https://fineartamerica.com/ and https://www.imagekind.com and I've personally used both for my paintings—clients are super happy! The quality of the prints are great and you can find just about any type of decor under the sun there. Choose your size and what medium you want the print on and it's rather inexpensive.

Imagekind has more sales for free shipping if you sign up for their newsletters. As an artist, I can tell you that the the prices might be a little lower on Imagekind simply because their base printing price is less (and then artists choose what they want to add on top of the base printing price) and it's usually a 10% recommended mark-up so that the artist can make a little. Imagekind has more frame options if you want framed art.

Fine Art America has many more options for the material you want to print on...like wood, papers, canvas, etc...and they also print on all kinds of home decor products. Fine Art America is actually one of the biggest print on demand companies in the world, if not the largest.

Overall, the prices are very good and the art is by a lot of US artists—there is great value in that.

I could go on and on about print qualities as my original background is in design, specifically printed design but I'd say these are awesome options for inexpensive wall art that are often overlooked. :-)

Any specific prints I should look at?

Abby, what you could do is make a list of key words that describe what you are looking for in complimentary prints, like maybe: blue, tall, pattern, abstract, decorative, floral, lkat,etc...and then put those into the searches in Imagekind and Fine Art America. There are a zillion artists on those sites, there's so much to discover... What I've learned in nearly two decades of selling my own wall art (and I've sold hundreds of oil and watercolor paintings...in addition to my chandeliers) is that art is very personal. Something will grab you and you'll know it's the right thing.

You could ask 20 different designers for recommendations and not see the right wall art...and I think this is part of the reason why lots of designers let clients choose their own wall art pieces. But I bet if you searched these sites for an hour or two over the weekend, you might find just the right pieces.

Both of these sites also show images of how art would look in various rooms.
