This is the quartz I’m using.

My kitchen will look similar to this one. White cabinets, white “marble looking” quartz, but my island will be charcoal gray.

I think the matching backsplash, particularly in a veined material like this, is very handsome.

I'd buy a more cost effective tile; subway and use the savings to take a cruise! You would still have a great back splash but you would also get a nice vacay

I would not continue the countertop as a backsplash. I'd put in more contrast - like a grayish subway tile or maybe a Carrera marble.

Wild veining with geometric tile? Not to my eye. Do matching top and splash, please.

I would choose a glass gray subway tile or something with a timeless quality. I am building my dream home right now and have had to make countless decisions.
I went through the same dilemma with choosing a backsplash. After a ton of reading and mulling it over with my kitchen designer I chose not to do the quartz backsplash. The material is very expensive and I honestly think it is becoming dated. Just my opinion. Good luck to you in your project! I'm sure it will be lovely whatever you decide. Cheers!

We had the same dilemma. We were putting Bianco Venato marble on our island and honed Jet Mist granite on the perimeter counters. What to do with the backsplash? We ended up pulling the plug on the first plan of Bianco Venato slabs for reasons of cost, the style of our house and maintenance. We went with a soft white porcelain tile and grout that blended in, and we've been really happy with the look at a fraction of the cost. Personally, I wouldn't mix marbles. Your Calacatta (often wrongly listed as Calcutta) marble will be so elegant that I'd use a simple tile backsplash that will allow your marble countertop to be the star.

What did you end up doing? How about posting the finished photo?

I'm curious as to what the decision was. Any pics? I have a similar dilemma: grey quartz on back wall and Calacatta on island.

I'm just now seeing this. We ended up doing the quartz on the backsplash, and I absolutely love it! Every time someone sees the house, he/she always says I LOVE the backsplash! Our kitchen cabinets are actually down at the moment because the cabinet shop painted them the wrong color and we were finally able to get them repainted. They will be reinstalled tomorrow, so I'll take a pic then and post it. :)

Please post a pic! I still need to decide. I think the veining on a backsplash slab is beautiful.
