I'd go with the tub but only if the tub is large enough to truly soak. I'm 5'9 and every home I've had with a tub is only large enough to soak my legs or my shoulders...never both at the same time.

Maaaaaan I miss a good relaxing soak on those days I can't get rid of the chill. Or those days my body aches and I remember Epsom salt soaks and how much they would ease pain.

I always bath so IMO if you have the space and you will use it get a tub.

It is personal preference. I prefer the shower set up. The space feels much larger and the continuous vanity is much more functional and offers better storage solutions then two small vanities. I had a similar dilemma in my own master bath and I had to come to terms that I would only use the soaker bath on occasion but would use the concealed storage daily. Great renderings by the way!

Personal preference. We had our huge Roman tub removed in our master bathroom & replaced with an equally large walk-in shower .... best thing ever, but it works for us because neither one of us has ever used the bathtub in our other bath upstairs in the 17 years we’ve lived here, but our little dog takes his bath there.

I take both showers and baths, so I can't imagine a bathroom without a bathtub. Some more suggestions- You might want to think about a handheld sprayer attachment for your bathtub. Also, for myself, I prefer bathtubs with decking around them. That's where I put down my soap, shampoo bottle, wash cloth, scrub-brushes, etc. With a free-standing tub as you show, where would you put those things?

If you’ve been longing for a tub (because you actually use it...not just for show), absolutely get the tub. You will regret not doing so... especially on days when you want have a good soak and are unable to do so because you opted to go without. I really value a roomy bathroom, but would definitely choose a tub over a bit more space. If the tub is just for show and you will never use it, I would forget the tub and go for the bigger bathroom.

I know this is off topic, but how do you prevent shower spray from getting everywhere?

Also, I vote bigger shower and vanity unless you use the tub a few times a week.

If you're like me and use a tub a lot get it. I've been without one for 3 years and cannot tell you how much I miss it. I'd use it at least 4x a week at night.

"Longing" for a tub, I think that answers your question. Get that tub!

If that is a freestanding tub squeezed into that small place, cleaning around it would make me violent. It would make me go for the shower even though Inlike baths.

If you are going to use the tub, get it! I actually also like the idea of two separate vanities, even if they're somewhat small.

Think very seriously about whether or not you're a take-a-bath person or just like the image of the bathtub. Lots and lots of people who bought houses in the late '80s & '90s with a must-have big fancy "garden" soaking tub are busily ripping them out and replacing them with more practical showers and storage. In my area, master bath tubs in new construction are practically non-existent. Obviously, if you truly do enjoy a bath and know you'll use the tub, get it.
