I love the the styling of Pacific Northwest Architecture & am trying to learn more about the materials used.

What type of wood is used in the structural beams on projects like:

• the Lynn Canyon visitors center in in North Vancouver, BC,

• Sea-to-sky gondola base station
• Sea-to-sky summit lodge

I'd like to know what type of wood beams are used on projects like these, what species, & what type of treatment is used for the wood (the wood on these type of buildings always looks so beautiful).
