Working on Kitchen and wine room remodel. Want to move sink and dishwasher to bar for view into dining room and great room, refinish cabinets, change hardware, replace and possibly relocate stove. U-Shaped 10'3" W x 14'8" L. Dilemmas: (1) dining room & great room were included in an addition to the original house. Wall separating dining and kitchen was an original wall. Uncertain of load bearing areas and possible difficulty of accessing area underneath bar in order to add plumbing for sink and dishwasher. (2) Current Viking 36" range is 20 years old and uses propane (only available gas for us). Top burners ok, but cannot simmer. Oven bakes unevenly and is awful to clean. Need to replace - thinking Blue Star 36". But do I move it to wall where sink currently exists or leave it where it is? (3) Would like to switch bar lower cabinets with sink lower cabinets, but bar cabinets are 4" taller. Space length is the same for either side of kitchen. Do I sacrifice the drawers in the bar cabinets to move the sink cabinets? (4) If I move the stove then there is a whole 'nother issue with cabinets. While these are outdated cabinets, they are custom built, solid oak and in excellent condition. I refinished library cabinets that are the same custom cabinets and used a black lacquer -- they turned out beautiful. And, (5) Kitchen is very dark, needs new floor, lighter cabinet color, new counter tops, new sink and fixtures.
