Arranging awkward living room

We are about to close on our first home, and I am looking for ideas on how to arrange our living room. We really like to entertain, so I'd love for it to be a space where we can have people over and seat them comfortably in view of the TV, but I also want it to be aesthetically pleasing as it's right at the center of the home.

The room presents somewhat of a challenge for arranging furniture, as it's long and rectangular, with doors in the middle of each long side, a door on one short end, and a fireplace and door on the other short end. The space above the fireplace is the natural spot for a TV. Because the room is sort of cut in half by the middle doors, there's really not as much space for furniture as there would be. What would be the best way to arrange furniture for the maximum amount of seating without it looking awkward? And what should I do with the other half of the room? There is some shelving in the back (I'll include a pic). Thanks in advance for any input/ideas!
