I think there's too much furniture here. What can you remove?

I agree with Margaret McQuarrie - also if you make them asymmetrical it would detract from the not-centered light.

You have a lot of wall space, so something like the two cabinets on the right.

I would get rid of the small cabinet near the high chair, center the china cabinet, and hang the mirror so it's horizontal. I would also change out those two small lamps. They don't seem to go although I can't exactly put my finger on why they look off. Maybe it's because the lamp shades are close to the chandelier but not quite a match so it just looks off.

Hanging the mirror horizontally instead of vertically might make that wall feel more complete without adding anything else.

Remove the little stool in the right foreground and the smaller dark cabinet. Then finish your china cabinet to match the buffet and flip their locations. Turn your table the other direction and remove the warm carpet; it is clashing with your cool palette. Few people like to watch themselves eat. Replace the mirror with striking art.

We think that some artwork would be wonderful to see instead of the mirror. Perhaps also take up your rug for now? Is it possible to remove the small cabinet in the far left corner? Once these changes are made the dining room will look a whole lot better.
