It may be cold here now (14 this morning) but I can deal with that a lot better than I deal with the days in the 90's. I can't handle heat and humidity. I actually like to bundle up and take the dog out for a brisk walk--but I've always lived up north so I am used to it. I really like Love Pat. Just got a couple of Liberty plants last fall so I will see how they do this year. I am also looking at various Lemon hostas on Bob Solberg's website--so many gorgeous plants!

What lovely L's today. Here are a few of mine.

Lancifolia is my workhorse hosta. I plant her around the edges of the garden and the deer snack on her first, usually leaving the rest of the garden alone.

Leapin’ Lizard — moved this one last winter and lost track of where I put it. No question about it’s identity when it came up in the Spring.

Lederhosen — thanks to mcTavish for highlighting this one years ago, it’s one of my favorites.

Lemon Ice — comes up looking like this early spring and basically is star of the garden for weeks. I learned the hard way last year to move it to more shade when the Spring sun gets hot before the trees leaf out.

Lemon Zest — another Solberg introduction.

Limey Lisa — no complaints from this one.

Love Pat — moved later in the year so it can get big without annoying its neighbors.

Peren.all, love your tight little clump of Lemon Frost, and that's also quite a nice Love Pat, biggest I've seen (not that I've seen a ton of them).

mbug, your Little Sunspot is a little charmer, eh. Love it.

For anyone who hasn't seen Leather and Lace in person, it really is a cool looking hosta. Photos don't do it justice. I can't quite explain what is so appealing about it to me, but it beckons me to stop and take a close look.

Paula, I'm not sure how we tolerate the cold either! I just wish it didn't last as long. The cold makes me appreciate the warmth even more.

Nicholsworth55, you got to get a Liberty! I found it didn't look all that special for a few years, and then one more season and all of a sudden it transforms into a beautiful hosta---just as the above photos have displayed.

newhostalady..I've admired Liberty for a long time..I've bought fewer hostas in recent years..I was rearranging and wanted to make plans before getting more hostas..agree that Liberty is great and I should get one..or more than one haha

I know what you mean about buying fewer hostas, nicholsworth55---I'm trying to do that too--- but it's a hard. Yes, do get one Liberty, or two or . . . LOL.

One more of Liberty:

I've heard that it is one of those hostas that doesn't like to be moved, so try to find it a permanent home when planting. I planted mine near tree roots, and it seems to have sunken a bit low, but I've decided not to elevate it unless I see decline.

sandyslopes, I love Little Miss Sunshine, looks like the leaves have various shades within the leaves. How is the plant for a gardener who struggles with slugs. I try to get pretty thick leaved plants.

Beth, I like how bright LMS gets later on when some of the other yellows are turning light green. I'd say it has the average hosta leaf, so not a super thick leaf. But with some slug deterrence (I use Sluggo) it doesn't attract them any more than any other. Some hostas seem to draw the slugs to them in spite of Sluggo. My worst one being Candy Dish. The slugs must have named it, lol.

Sandyslopes, thankyou for your comments and oh no I purchased candy dish last fall. I guess I will see how it does this year.

Newhostalady: What a fabulous Liberty. I love the setting in your garden with the white birch - just lovely.

Sandyslopes, is the frost damage on your Liberty those small spots I see on three of so of the leaves? Got Liberty new this past year and trying to prepare myself not to freak out if I see odd-looking leaves this first Spring...which seems so far away right now...sick of this Winter. Probably wouldn't be so bad if I was into winter sports!

Beth, Candy Dish can be a good looking hosta, I've seen some pretty ones here, but it does need more attention from whatever slug deterrence you choose to use. Plant it somewhere you know you'll remember it. I hope to do better with my CD next year.

Pampered Peeps, yes those little spots are from frost damage. That's why I wanted to point that out when I posted the pic because it could look like something else. It's on the SW side of the house where the hostas come up first, so several in that area were affected this year. ...sick of winter, yes I am, too! We're getting more snow right now.
