You need drapes badly in order to make this room look more furnished and warmer. A floor or table lamp by the couch is pretty well a necessity. Pillows on the couch in pale yellow and large wall art or a gallery wall to furnish all that blank space also. I think you could put together something very interesting here. Do you have room or the budget for another chair that is in the comfortable style of the couch? That would make the space look much more inviting? You could go bold and choose yellow.

The room is off to a good start. The loveseat is tiny, don't you want a larger sofa? I think the room desperately needs color. Consider painting the walls a pistachio or peacock blue like in the rug. Good luck with your project, hope it turns out exactly the way you want!

I like what you have especially the rugs... teal is a fav of mine. I wonder if you could 'even out' the spacing by moving a chair to other side of sofa.

Also that will reduce empty wall space [with chair there]. How wide is loveseat??

What color would you call rug's flower? The clear bright green in the corner wouldn't seem good, imo.... but I don't think you have to match either... and this has small amount, sort of.

I would try turning the rug in the living room a quarter turn so that the chairs are on the long side. Lower the two pictures you have hanging in the living room. Find a couple of pillows for the sofa - I would pull the colors from the rug: gold, teal and cream. Hang a large picture over the sofa.

I think the problem in the room is that everything is the same height. You need something taller , maybe a bookshelf or display cabinet or something like that to give it a bit of balance and much bigger sofa. I like wall colour it’s neutral and you need it with your colourful rugs. Tall plant in a nice big white pot would be nice. When you are buying furniture one big piece is better then 3 small ones. I would not use bright artwork instead go for a classy round mirror , floor lamp could add height as well.

It doesn't work with the rug. Too much deep, bright orange.

Certainly the mustardy- green color in art is good, whatever you like. Just saying you could choose nature, too.

Actually, depends what works for the size of room, but I meant both chairs arranged beside the sofa. Or you might need a bit larger chair by the window, or in corner [and the smaller 2 in the more open area by DR]?

Might get too crowded with 3 chairs - how large is room available floor space approximately?

A couple ideas:

--create a conversational grouping by facing both chairs towards the sofa and within reach of the coffee table.

--Move the side table between the chairs.

--Move the table lamp to your hall table.

--Get a floor lamp or arc lamp for for the corner away from the window and a large, live plant for by the windw.

--Treat yourself to a larger newer piece of art or pair of paintings that harmonze with your existing colors and in a subject you like. oversizeart.com carries large art works. Put your orange painting on one of the other walls in the living room but not over the sofa. Hang all your art so that the center of the art is 60" from the floor--eye level unless it's over the sofa then it's about 18" from the bottom to top of sofa so they link together.

The conversational grouping you made with seats facing sofa are perfect--just enough seating. If the room is more for entertaining then maybe some nesting tables on one side of the sofa that you can pull out as needed for company:

Ok your dark teal is closer to blue-ish teal. Pretty! Stick with more gold than true yellow. The chairs look better facing the sofa. If you keep it that way, a long, low-height sideboard against the wall with the windows would look nice.

And maybe a tall plant to the right of it, to add some natural elements. Since you have a nice nod to mid-century modern, how about one of those arch lamps in that left corner. One that fans out...not necessarily this one, but similar shape

Love your floors. Put the sofa table back in the entryway. Along with maybe a large mirror and complementing décor on the table.

Loveseat did look a little small, but I could not figure out it pic was a little distorted? Liked Celerygirl's pic and some other ideas. Balance and proportion is essential. Celerygirl, what program did you use?

Beautiful home! A Meyer lemon tree would look great in that corner and would tie in with the rug.

Please, please lower the wall art/mirror, whatever is hanging between the two windows. Have the bottom edge close to where the middle of the window is so that is has some relation to the table below it. So many people hang their art way too high, I just don't get it. I had a low bookcase in the entry way of another house, with either a painting or mirror above it, and a pretty entry rug, and it looked very nice.

Just do everything that Celery posted and you'll have a fabulous room. Love her choices of drapes, art, light fixtures. It will be beautiful. Great job, Celery!

so what's the rule when hanging anything on the wall? what is the best height for the bottom edge from the floor ? or say if a table is below the painitng?

The "rule" is to measure 57"-60" from the floor to the CENTER of freestanding art work (except for art over a sofa or table) That puts all the art at eye level. This is what galleries do.. Measure from the floor to the center point of any art work. The exception is art over a sofa or table so there's not too big a gap. Measure about 18" from the sofa top or table top to the BOTTOM of the piece.

Most people hang their art too high so viewers have to crane their necks to look up at the art. It takes getting used to hanging art at eye level then after awhile you wonder why everyone doesn't do it that way.

J. C. Penney carries a lot of curtain panels & drapes for all kinds of rods. Sheers, semi-sheers, lined, etc. They can be ordered on-line; easily returned and even easier to return if you have a store near you. They carry Royal Velvet brand & I've had good luck with the quality. I'd hesitate to order a light fixture on line mostly because it would be difficult to return (ship back) if you didn't like it. I'd want to see it first. I like celerygirls furniture arrangement - the 2 chairs on the wall with the windows. The chairs seem too 'lightweight' to be placed where you had them. You can see through them into the room. They need something substantial behind them for support - the wall. You have a great entryway to work with too!

Idk that I saw what I mentioned: widening the appearance of loveseat by placing chairs on each side of it. Chairs opposite of sofa -- does that cramp foot traffic, etc..?

I’m not crazy about seeing the backs of the chairs from the entry. What about placing them on either side of the loveseat facing each other.

The two paintings in your dining room would look lovely side by side over your loveseat.

Don't hang your art too high. Eye level for the average person. I have very similar chairs to your blue ones. Love them. Great suggestions so far, I love your furniture choices. Did you buy new or repurpose vintage?

Oh, and table between windows is OK, but it's a star and should be in your entryway. What purpose could a tall table between the windows serve anyway? Before you had two chairs and a chair-level table between them, made more sense. I would totally put it back at the doorway and get a cool mirror something like Scherrill posted. (Well I couldn't afford that kind of mirror, but at least a cool round one.)
