Full disclosure (we don't have any kids!) but we did put a similar bench in our sport style all one depth pool. Thought we would use it a lot but we do not. Our dogs don't like the pool. The ledge does get in my way if I am simply walking around; it is easy to stub your toes! I believe there are certain regulations which require a bench at certain depths. If I did it again, I would keep our large shallow tanning shelf area but omit the long bench. It's really hard to guess how you will use your pool when planning. Good luck!
