Don't even bother. Take the phone to Apple and get the screen replaced. Apple will do it correctly, with genuine (not stolen or knockoff) parts, and provide a guarantee. If there are other problems you can get an out of warranty replacement. Do the screen yourself and you have problems, Apple will not help. You will then be faced with full replacement cost.

Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide.

Replacement screens at amazon.com in the $35-$40 range, including tools and instructions. IMHO, pay Apple to do it.

Man, I feel like a chump. I broke my iPhone6s screen 3 times and paid $85 each time to replace, and not by an apple person. He always did an excellent job. I’m just a major butter fingers, that is until I started using Otter cases.

No reason to feel like a chump. You can still get decent work done by a 3rd party, but it wont be with oem glass, and thusly wont be quite as good. As much as I dislike Apple, their hardware had always been top notch. Their glass has always been overly fragile though imho, I see a lot of busted displays every day and we only allow our employees to get fixed through Apple because we you never know which repair shop to trust, or the quality of their displays. And yes bossy, you seemed to be destined to use a quality case for your phone :) . Dont necessarily need to be an otterbox case (they are of great quality though), just make sure to use a case that provides great protection in the corners, and the screen. Your phone or screen protector should not be the first thing to contact a surface if dropped on its face. Best of luck to your current screen.
