If you can't send it back, repurpose it as an architectural element in another room, maybe as a headboard.

I agree with everyone. It doesn’t work. Traditional fighting a more modern look. I bet you could sell it without too much trouble, tho.
Given the modern stone on the front of the fireplace I think a simple thick wood plank would be better. If this room has other wood cabinets try to do something that will coordinate with those.
I would keep it simple and clean.
