Bathroom decorating Questions

Hello, I need advice for my son's bathroom. He has a 5 foot clawfoot tub, a console sink with insulator lighting and great windows with a ledge you could put things on.

I have two laundry basket options. This ladder hamper that you'll see in the pictures. I thought it stuck out a bit too far into the room and took focus off his tub/windows, but what do you think? Or I could use this rolling Parisian style laundry basket, but not sure where it looks best if I go that route, and it still leaves a pretty empty room.

For towel storage, i have the ladder hamper or this old bookcase, which has sentimental value and could be painted. The bookcase doesn't stick out into the room so far. What do you think?

I know the cafe curtains are not the same length! Haha can correct that.

Could you give me ideas for the walls too? I really want this bathroom to be fantastic. Our home is farmhouse style.

this could be such a cute space. you had room for a bigger pedestal sink. why the small one? you have some really nice design options here.

some other ideas first.

are you open to other window covering ideas? the cafe curtains don't do this space justice. do a close fit shade of some sort, or a glass inset, and open up that shelf area for some plants / orchids.

what do you think about doing the wainscot around all of the walls? continue what's behind the tub, or do a simple white subway.

this pic shows the wainscot, as well as a better type of window covering.

or, do a dark color on the walls w/the white tile as the wainscot.

what a difference wainscot makes.

I'd also get a little wood stool to set next to tub.

what if you did a basket for the hamper? (I'm also digging the black wainscot/beadboard idea. would look great w/your flooring)

as for the laundry items, the smaller hamper looks a bit better. really don't care for the canvas or the wood shelf. do you have to have a hamper in here? maybe do one something like this?

some other design options near the tub on that long wall:

consider doing some shelving by the tub like they have here and opposite some art and towel bar.

other window options. (beadboard wainscot)

if you must do cafe curtains, then do them like this. also notice the towel bars and some pictures and a little glass stand nest to tub. this also has wainscot)

window covering like this roll shade below. put a few things on the shelf like plants or other bathroom items.

Plus the ladder hamper is very creamy off white and I'm doing white/gray/green so not liking that but could paint that too.

i really like the insulator light fixture. did you make that yourself or have someone/company make it? if so could you post their link please :)

How old is your son? Is there a shower in his bathroom?

Beth, thats beautiful. yes def for the light that looks like bubbles! i think that would be perfect in the area and i like the darker color on the walls to add framing. you could always add a circular curtain holder that goes around the whole tub but only put the curtains on each side of the tub. that way they can be swung in the front or back for privacy or add 4 thinner panels but kept them pulled open and to the lf and right of the tub, does that make sense? i think it would help frame out the tub so that you don't need as much art work around there. and then you can take down your current curtains to enlarge the space or draw your eyes up. As far the the laundry basket put it on the wall across from the toilet and add a wood element like a ladder (not industrial one but more like wood sticks) next to the laundry basket and put some towels on it and some metal hooks to hold some baskets with toilet paper and extra soaps/cotten balls etc. it looks like you like blk/white/pink floral pattern bc of your trash can design but it also looks like your tub base is a pale green color. either way you can always add pieces of art to the wall above toilet and near ladder that has a bold floral pattern in the colors that pop from the tub.

actually your could put the bold floral art near the right of the sink and near the ladder/laundry wall and many smaller blk frames with architectural features above the toilet

Search on "Menlo Park" and some combination of "insulator" and lighting and it should come up.

The space seems somewhat formalish and I don’t see the farmhouse style in the fixtures and fittings but you can easily inject it via the accessories. here are some suggestions for storage that is off the floor (besides the rolling laundry cart):
