I suggest using some floating shelves and relocating the file cabinet and trash can

Here is the whole wall. I don't want to do any demo, I should of mentioned that before. I have had trouble finding floating shelves that are the right width. As well, I can move the filing cabinet but I have nowhere to put the recycle bin if I do move everything. there is simply no space anywhere.

Look around for a tall unfinished cabinet something like this

I found this one on Houzz, but you can use Google to get you started. Search for "tall unfinished cabinet." Get one as wide as you can and make sure that it has adjustable shelves so you can put your recycle can in the bottom. Find a stain that matches your cabinets and you're all set. (Staining isn't hard, but if you've never done it you could look online for how-to tips before you start. YouTube has instructional videos for everything these days.)

If you don't have space for your file cabinet in another room, consider replacing it with a couple of file storage boxes that you can tuck into the back of your closet. To me, the boxes are handier than a file cabinet. They come in all sizes and are not expensive. Wal Mart would probably have the best prices.

Are you handy? Or do you want something ready-made or in kit form? I wouldn't do floating shelves. They are the worst to mount, and even then, they don't hold a lot of weight... o.k. that's been my experience with them!

I suggest taking a drawer and a door to your local big box shop to see if they can near-match the style and finish (which are classics). Take your measurements, too. It would be easy to get a new Formica countertop piece or similar countertop to go over a new base cabinet and the existing one. The recycle bin could go nearer to the doorway- have you tried it?

By the way, it looks like your fridge could have its door handles changed around so that it opens the other way. Would that be more convenient for you?

This is 21" wide, 24" deep (same as your base cabinets) and 84" tall. It should fit perfectly in the space. You can put your recycle bin inside and add shelves to custom fit to your needs. You should be able to match the oak finish of your cabinets or pick a color and chalk paint it.

I also agree with changing the swing of your refrigerator. They're not inexpensive but adding rollout shelves to as many of your base cabinets as possible will really help increase your storage as well.
