Citrus Tree problem

I dont have pictures at the moment so i will try to describe the problem as best I can:


For quite a while now I have noticed that my citrus tree leaves are not soft and flexible as you would find in a nursery. They are supposed to be soft and easily flexible but when I touch the leaves they are extremely rigid and if i try to bend the leaves they will immediately break and sometimes snap off.


They are very green so I do not think i have a nutrient deficiency [or do I?]


Some leaves do exhibit the symptoms of curling as well as being easily broken.


I wish I had pictures but can you guys here tell me what problem I have as I really dont want to lose the tree.
