Lighting Color Temp for Dark Kitchen

I would like to swap the halogens for LEDs in my kitchen, which is dark because of both lack of natural light and the dark combo of chocolate brown (glossy) cabinets and black honed granite countertops. Even in the morning, I have to turn on all the lights in order to see decently. Not looking to add any light fixtures but instead work with what I have which is two track lighting strips, one with four lights above the island/sink and the other with three lights above the cooktop and oven. My question is...what color temperature would give me good working light yet not be clinical given my particular situation? Should I mix color temps in the space?
