Kitchen Decor help - dark taupe cabinets

I need some design help with my kitchen. I’ve never had dark taupe cabinets and recently saw a look I loved for the kitchen.

Do you think it would work?

Black bar stools OR buffalo, and black/white stripe runners.. thoughts??

maybe this will help.. btw,,,those stools are really not comfortable to sit in. you may want to get actual counter chairs.

not feeling the blue/white horizontal stripes w/your floor. the stools are 'meh'.

do you only have one pendant light?

I wanted the runners in black/white as opposed to the blue and white pictured.

Much better to see it in the picture. Are the buffalo stools awful?

    lol..no buffalo check!

what if you brought in some blue/green color?

and then did some stools like,,,

I’m more of a neutral Nancy when it comes to colors but I do love those stools with the wood on top! What’s another idea for runners??

what do you think about counter chairs like these? you don't have to do white, but I like the walnut. maybe black instead of white?

Another picture to work with as well

Love those chairs! And those runners!

    What runner would look best?

I love those chairs too. I don't know where they're from, sadly! try searching walnut island chairs, or walnut counter stools.

    some other black runners

maybe 5 or 8? hard to tell the tones.

why oh why did you do only one pendant?! lol. you need two of those or a larger single guy.

If i had the choice I would’ve done 2 big ones.. our house was built by builders so I didn’t get a say on anything besides a few upgrades!

I.M.O. Personally, I like the larger silver metal pendant added, either the gray Persian rugs or the artsy rug with the blues, yellows & grayish white, & the stools with the wooden seats & hairpin legs. Beth H. has good advise.

I'd replace that pendant with a larger one asap. Love your kitchen

I guess it's better to be a "neutral Nancy" than a "negative Nancy" LOL I chuckled when I saw that too, Neutral Nancy!!

    Those cabinets are beautiful!

Yea! Glad to see something different besides gray cabinets! Beautiful space. I do agree a larger pendent light over island is needed and will make a big difference.

Here's some more from "O". All swivels except the last one. I think swivels are better for getting on and off.

You are so BRAVE! I can't do it! I cannot post on here because inevitably when you post to ask about colors people comment on your lighting and pick your stools! :) Your kitchen is a beautiful neutral, actually, and perhaps choosing a subtle pattern would work. If you prefer a bold pattern--the rug or the buffalo check stools-- choose one and then work around it with colors that compliment. Keep those colors throughout. What helps me the most is to try it out in your kitchen--keep your receipts and make sure you can return, if necessary. I had 3 rugs under my dining room table before I found the right fit! And stools, to me, are a personal fit. I hated swivel with my kids (and it was one more thing that could break) and my sister's stools are so uncomfortable to me and she sits on them all day long! Bring home some testers and have fun!
