Hi! First post here. I've been reading suggestions about amending growing media for hoya and dischidia plants with coir, coconut husk, various kinds of bark, and sphagnum moss.

I'd like to incorporate some of them into tropical soil for some new cuttings (some hoya lacunosa stems that I had rooted in water, as well as in the future, for a few dischidia nummularia that I just placed in water the other day) but am worried about the longevity of these materials. I know that orchid growers would change out these kind of media every year or two, but haven't heard about hoya growers replacing their media frequently. I imagine that it would be more difficult to clean out the finer, more intricate root systems of hoya / dischidia without damage.

So what are the practices for hoya / dischidia when it comes to using these kind of media? Currently my three rooted lacunosa cuttings are sitting in a 2" pot filled with tropical soil, along with a bit of vermicullite, coconut husk, and expanded clay thrown in.
