Those cabinets are great! Wood is experiencing a big surge in popularity over clinical white.

If you do choose to have those professionally painted with conversion varnish like the factory would have used, that’s a 11-15K job. It’s a bigger than average kitchen.

Honestly I wouldn't bother, looks beaut. Paint your walls grey and maybe deeper grey on the island and other part with barstools. Add a few pops of colour in accessories.

It is your kitchen, make it how you like for you. With the farmhouse sink, painted in your colors it would look brighter and more like a country kitchen. It looks like they are frameless cabinets (all you see is drawer/doors, not frames.) You might want to see if there is a market for your doors and drawer fronts - they are a gorgeous wood - and what it would cost to order the white doors and drawer fronts you want. It would cut down significantly on your painting and they'd have a more durable factory finish in keeping with the quality of your home.

Your cabinets are beautiful. I would not paint them white just because everyone else is doing it.

Here are a variety of kitchens we have done. You don't have to paint your cabinets - you could always choose to update the countertops, backsplash, lights, and hardware.

I like your beautiful wood cabinets. Why not paint the walls first, the island and wait to see how it looks before diving into the entire kitchen. You might discover it looks great with just those few changes. I like the idea of going with a lighter backsplash and maybe if you can afford it a new countertop too.

I would not paint, however, I would change the kitchen lighting and purchase a new table and chairs for the dining area.

I’m going to disagree with those who lament the loss of your beautiful wood. I painted our kitchen cabinets, it was challenging and tedious, but worth it!!! Our crepe cabinets made the kitchen feel light filled and airy. It’s worth noting our house sold above market price the first day on the market. The buyer said we love the light filled kitchen. If you are covering lighter cabinets go for it! Be prepared to pay a pro, or do a LOT of hard work yourself. But it will be transformational.
