Family Room/Kitchen Dilemma

Need professional help please! Should I put anything on top of TV Entertainment Unit (currently have family photos) and also anything on top of kitchen cabinet space above microwave? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Also, if you see anything else that could be improved I would respect and appreciate your opinions. Thank You
