I clean houses. I tremble in fear every time I see marble in a bathroom. I also clean for a couple of interior designers. We all agree that marble is not a good choice for bathroom countertops. Everything etches it. You must use something non-acidic (ph neutral) to clean it. Joseph is right - it's going to happen a lot. I've seen overspray from hair products, tooth paste, shaving cream - many things etch the surface.

That Stoneguard is like plastic slipcovers for your counters...lol! Is it the same process as Azerocare? If marble is so porous I don't see why the slab can't be dipped into a sort of a clear resin bath that is then hardened to protect the stone before fabrication.

Easy to apply and restored our counter tops to look like new. It does have a high gloss finish which I like.

Yes, that is what etching is--it's a chemical wearing away of the stone Yes, it will keep happening, and no you cannot prevent it. It's what marble does. Trying to remove the etches will drive you crazy. Either live with it or remove the marble and replace it with granite or quartz.

Diana, Etching can occur in two forms - Chemical damage from cleaning products and on mark letting citric acid etc sit on the surface for some time. Plus, physical Damage from scrubbing or using a cream cleaner etc.
