that's a bummer.. dont have space for another pear tree... here's a wacky idea.. is it possible to graft another pear tree onto Chojuro once Chojuro is established a bit? Say graft a shinseiki scion (read somewhere it cross pollinates with Chojuro) onto Chojuro's branches the 2nd year, mostly for pollinating purpose?

Yes, it is certainly possible to graft on another cultivar. Or you can often find trees with multiple cultivar grafts already done and sold as "3-way" or "5-way trees". With limited space, that is often the way to go. Check at your local nursery for multi-graft fruit trees.

Not wacky at all... and a good idea if you really don't have space for another tree. Chojuro is my favorite Asian pear... Ya Li or Hosui come in second.

Pears are EASY to graft and very forgiving of beginner's attempts.

Yes, I was going to ask people not to spread information that they are not sure of. Chojuro Asian pears are indeed semi self-fertile one tree that’s well cared for will produce fruit that’s great to eat, however it will undoubtedly be smaller than if it were pollinated by a different cultivar that is compatible. I’d recommend that anyone interested in these pears simply find a dwarf rootstock variety and plant another dwarf my preference would be a Bartlett. You can easily fit two of these dwarf trees in a small back yard. Good luck.
