Kmarsh--I like the coor idea, and the porch idea, as well, depending on your needs. If you feel that you would like to have space to site outside, then perhaps building a shed roof back into the main roof would be best, as you can spring that roof forward, 6'-8', in order to provide enough overhang to leave a table and chairs out under cover. Probably best if your home faces south or west, otherwise you sit outside in the shade all the time. The entry of the shed roof could have a gable end detail to draw your eye to the entry. I like the white band (frieze) over the windows on the entry side. Repeating that detail on all sides would allow you to change materials to shingles (?) above that band in the gables, using perhaps of a compiimentary, but lighter color, and adding a rectangular vent with a stool and a sill with trim to match the windows. Here are some examples of how the porch can be addressed on both single and two story homes of this ilk. You have a cute house, and a lot of possibilities. Happy Houzzing.

For me, your home's style especially the roof pitch lends itself very much to the bungalow or craftsman style. There is a brilliant magazine you may know of, called AMERICAN BUNGALOW that is chocked full of great ideas. I find every issue a feast even though it costs a small fortune here in australia. There is also a very nice small book - 500 bungalows - that features the fronts of bungalows throughout.
