She is the lighter pink sport of Zephirine Drouhin and very much like her, chronic mildew and all.

Darren, I no longer grow it, as I lost it to RRV, but in Spring it's incomparable, both the bloom and the scent (very strong old rose +++). Here, it did suffer mildly from mildew, but once she matured not nearly as bad as ZD; and a once or twice preventive spray when it fully leafed out, but before the onset of mildew, seemed to keep it under control. Summer water will help, as well. KH also didn't blackspot as badly as ZD. Your conditions will be totally different than mine, though, so you need info from someone close to you. Even in the British Isles conditions vary widely, therefore so does disease pressure from place to place. It's possible she will be a dog for you in the long run, but if you have room, do grow her.

As far as repeat, for me, KH had a very heavy Spring flush, and only an occasional flower later in the season, nothing I would call a flush. She is also slightly less vigorous than ZD, but not by much. I think it might just take longer for her to get established. She's far from a weak grower. I grew her in morning sun, afternoon shade. Again, I have very cold winters and blazing HOT, tropically HUMID summers. She may behave totally different for you.

In my opinion her color is MUCH easier to work into the garden than ZD. Zephy can be rather...strident, though impressive and lovely when she's not clashing with another rose, lol.

I’m fond of my KH. I think I planted mine in 2014. She hasn’t gotten as big as ZD, but I’m glad for that, she’s stayed a good size. And she’s fragrant. Has a great spring flush with scattered bloom during the rest of the season.

I often fancy a hedge of 'ZD'..'KH' and another sister called 'Martha'... I think they would look good together...

My 'ZD' isn't as troublesome as I expected it to be, and it's never sprayed..

Sara-Ann, your rose looks beautiful, and so healthy, maybe due to the dryish climate?... I always enjoy seeing a photo of this rose from you as you seem to grow it better than most..

ZD is by no means unhealthy in all climates,Darren, and I assume that KH will be the same. Give it full sun and good air circulation,and if possible, good irrigation. But I have ZD and all of my garden has to get by solely on rainfall (my garden is very, very big and I have no running water),and said rainfall here in Tuscany, Italy tends to come only in fall and winter. Yet I would not single ZD out as a disease magnet, by any means.

Thank you everyone! Lisa, she’s about 6 ft. Tall by 4 ft. Wide, my ZD is about twice that size. Last spring KH was one of the first roses to be in full bloom and she’s in a spot where she’s very noticeable and it was a joy to see her while I was anticipating the spring flush to begin.

I have to admit I like this color better than ZD's. However, it would be difficult for me to grow a rose that doesn't bloom well through several seasons. It's a long rose year in southern California

Will I get blooms in its first year, does anyone know? X

I would be very surprised if you didn't get blooms the first year. I would expect to see some from mid May till August.. Although if it's like 'ZD' it will take about 3 years to get into a rhythm, that rose blooms all season now into December, it didn't for the first 2 years, but I'm not sure if 'KH' follows the same pattern.
