Hi ,well the first thing is taking a look at bars for what makes them bars and not kitchenettes or short term serving tables as would be seen around bar support columns. The first thing is lighting.Neons and fluorescent effects. Also the decoration behind the bar (other than bottles) looks like it was assembled by hoarders. And also its somewhat dark. people come to the bar to hook up and they use the bar lighting to see each other via beer goggles. How authentic a feel is taking away the basement effect and really moving them into a Boston or Fargo type bar -bar; its not a club; ceilings are too low.

So I've added some positive and negative aspects to choose from. Also decide what about a bar is timeless. There's one case where an angled bar has its sides covered in carpet ,possibly old vomit , and a gun rack....and the wall has vertical wood panels ; thats a basement bar. And how far do you want to press the alcoholism button? bars are where alcoholics go no differently that hash houses or crack dens. Your allying yourself with a drug choice. I say that in responsible concern if you have kids.

You're going to sleep guests down there with all the liquor? Don't put any alcoholics in that precarious position, please.

Many stores (I got mine from William Sonoma & Crate & Barrel ) carry nice bar accessories. My bar has nice barware, wine carafes, two rustic glass candleholders from Sundance catalog, things like that. It just depends upon your needs & desired look. I also have a few pieces of art glass on the shelves for color & interest.

I like the wall color, it adds more mood to the room. I think your plan would look great, and maybe you could add some lighting on the cabinets for more added effect. Excited for its end result!
