Add some warm colors. Red, orange, yellow, terra cotta, spice. Some green with plants. Maybe blues. A pattern rug. Colorful accessories and some art on the walls.

Thanks for your comments. A coffee table would be difficult as both the sofa and the loveseat are recliners. My husband doesn't like area rugs. I like blue, but it would have to be the right one. Perhaps, with time I will find the pieces I need to make me happy to live with this combination. The window is a bow window which shows in a corner of one of the pictures. I need a plan!

First, clear all that clutter off of the tv ledge/wall. Hang your tv higher on the wall, what are those black square? Are those your speakers? Please have them remounted, one on the top right wall, one on the top left. Then after you hang your TV, put some floating shelves up. Remove the brown photo wall in the corner and remove the pillows. Put some nice pots/vases on that ledge as well as some green plants.Then choose another accent color such as pink, orange, black, and use these colors to add to the room. You seem to have space for 2 sitting areas. One in front of the TV and one behind the sofa, make the 2 blue sofas the cozy area by putting them in an L shape, you could also have side tables here instead of the coffee table. Behind the sofa put your brown man caver with a nice coffee table and some art work where that cabinet is. If you need to keep the cabinet, angle it in the corner. Put a nice piece of art on that wall, above the brown caveman sofa.

Is your flatscreen a non-glare version? If so, I would put it on the wall above a credenza opposite the window. Float the two sofas in an "L" so both the TV and FP can be seen. I'd want the large one directly out from the window and the short one as the foot of the "L" facing the FP. That may be your personal lounger, though, so you could try flipping them if you have to face the TV. Don't know what the black squares are on the FP front - vents, pictures or what. I'd want them replaced with a large colorful piece of art and possibly a contemporary mantel.
The bookcase looks very utilitarian and could use more shelves and some styling with 1/3 books, 1/3 decor and1/3 open space. I might consider painting it and the screen and tables expresso.

I would choose one small accent color to give your room a pop of color here and there. Use the 3rd accent color in your throw pillows, one picture frame or knick knack on the shelf, and in an accent rug. A plant and drapes will soften up the space too. The pics over the sofa need to be bigger to accommodate the size of the wall and hung at eye level.

Thank you all, this gives me lots to consider. The black squares on the wall are the vents for the fireplace. As one of you correctly concluded, the tv is in front of a wood-burning fireplace which we never use. The clutter on the fireplace ledge is for our TV Satellite - we live in the country and it's our only option for TV. The bookcase must stay as it was a gift from my husband and was handmade by a family friend. We are probably going to replace the blinds and were thinking of going with a cream to bring the carpet color up into the room. Good idea or not?

Would you consider painting the fireplace? I think the color just needs to be a softer white.

Get rid of the odd coloured sofa then you will have more room. I would not place a sofa against a window. It makes a room look small. Some colour on the walls would cut down on the sharp contrast which also makes a room look small. A soft taupe goes with just about every colour and a coat of paint is not too costly. If you have some money left after that an area rug with just a little of the colour of the sofa would look great.

Kelly, I like the room you posted. It helps me a lot to see an option that I like! I also appreciate your phrasing "would I consider?" I will definitely consider all the advice that you and others have posted. It's a great resource for non-decorators such as me :)
