Another bed under the windows question.

A few months ago I asked about master bedroom layout and gots lots of advice to put my king bed on a wall with two windows. I resisted for months because the view out those windows is my favorite thing about the bedroom, and my tall upholstered headboard is my second favorite thing. The headboard blocks 1/4 of each window--half of the bottom half. I currently have no window treatments.

The placement is perfect--the room feels much more inviting and balanced. But I want my windows unblocked. I started looking for an iron or slatted headboard that will allow the light to pass through but then I realized I'm going to have way too many lines going on with the headboard overlapping the windows. Now I'm stuck again.

I don't have a current picture at the moment but here's the original picture. Now the bed is under the two windows (no more pack-n-play or a/c unit, either).

I'm not sure what the question is but I wouldn't put my bed in front of windows. Like you, my favorite thing is waking up and looking outside. It looks like it fits perfectly in this picture.

Thank you and sorry I didn't clarify the question. The question is if the bed is under the windows, what could I use for a substantial headboard that would still let the light through and not be too cluttery looking. I had it where it is for almost five years but the room feels so much better with it under the windows.

Nice room. Really like three windows and all that natural light.

You shouldn't put your bed under these windows.

If your headboard would fit between two windows, that would work; however, I'd rather be able to look out as I wake up ... have the sun come in on my face to wake me up.

If you want your windows to have the open look as you awaken, use a double rod for each window wider than the windows even if you need to add white painted 2"x4" boards above the windows so the curtains/drapes will clear the miniblinds.

You should keep the miniblinds so that you could close them when you're in the bedroom with the lights on after dark or before dawn and changing clothes or otherwise don't want to invite the attention of any neighborhood "peepers".

If you can find the kind of swag/valance that covers the top and has a triangle on each side that would cover the side frame of the window, choose, a solid swag valance you cannot see through rather than a lace one. Use rods wider than the windows so that all the glass panes are visible between the valance.

Put white sheers on the inside rod and only a valance on the outside rod to cover the rod and the top of white miniblinds.

It might be best to opt for a lower profile, but solid headboard that won't cover (or clutter) as much of the windows.

I think, that if you want both the headboard AND the bed under the window, you pull the bed out from the wall about 10-12 inches. That way, the light still can sort of enter the room. Seems like you've got plenty of room for that. Curtains would look really nice.

Of course, the alternative is really low headboard (or none at all).
