Need design ideas

We want to redo this room now that our puppy is a little older. It is 18ft x 20ft so quite large.

Considering tv above fireplace, sectional and either hammock or swing in the corner near the window. Cozy rug. Walls are painted Revere Pewter.

Want this to be fun room for tweens/teens to hang out.

Plan to resurface the fireplace in more gray tone stones. Any other ideas?

No TV above the fireplace. They're awful for viewing. Also, be careful introducing grays into this space with those floors, which appear to be warmer. Sectionals also pose issues with furniture arrangements, so make sure you have carefully planned everything before getting one.

I'd get some curtains for the windows, a nice big rug, and some comfy couches. Teens just want a place to sit and hang, they don't really need a lot of extra stuff. You could always give your kids a budget and let them pick out a few items themselves too.

I don't love the flooring so thinking of going to hardwood. We have dark wood all through the house.

Your room is basically a blank slate. To make it cozy you need rugs, comfy seating, lamps, tables for drinks and snacks.

As mentioned above you have to be very careful about mixing greys and beiges. Right now everything seems to work well color wise except for your fireplace which appears pinky beige in the photos. A stacked stone with warm and cool colors would look nice in your space. (the hearth is not great)

I think your floor is nice and a few large area rugs will warm things up. I would use the area rugs to divide the space up - a TV viewing area and a table area for homework or games or snacks.

I don't think the hammock or swing is a great idea. It will take up a ton of space and with teens you'd have to anchor it with steel beams.

Look for inspiration photos and share them here and people will be happy to help you achieve the look.

Definitely agree on not adding grey to your tan/beige/brown room. Unless you are planning to change all that.

Personally, I stay off the trendy grey-train.

Can you draw a scale floor plan? I notice that the room seems spacious but you place furniture to block windows. I think a better placement could be made.

The last place the TV would go is above the fireplace so forget that right now.Could you maybe darw a floor plan as detailed s possible and give us some idea of your style. I would however forget the hammock or the swing both of those belong outside. How many people do you want to accommodate? Are the kids gamers? Many questions that need answers before we can actually design the space . Does the piano stay, how about the table ?

All furniture & piano is going. Blank slate. 1 of 2 kids is a gamer.

Revere Pewter paint is staying. Hoping to cover the floors in either area rugs for time being then replace with dark hardwood to match the rest of the house.
