What kind of succulent is it? Are you trying to propagate outdoors or indoors only? I can't help with indoor propagation since I keep all my succulents outside. They happen to be in a north facing area, so they don't get much direct sun. I just stick any piece that breaks off in some potting soil and treat it like my other already rooted succulents. I water them maybe once a month, twice a month in summer. Some pieces don't make it, but most will root and grow into a new plant. I get lots of baby succulents I may or may not want from just pieces falling to the base of the mother plant.

This is what I do (outdoors):

I don't bother with letting them callus, I just push them into soil as soon as they break off the mother plant.

If it's a leaf cutting, just lay the leaf on top of some potting soil. You can also push it into the soil so it has good contact at the base, but don't bury it.

If it's a stem cutting, stick the stem in potting soil.

Water it once so the soil is in good contact with the stem/base, then leave it alone. I only water again when the soil is dry.

I couldn't tell you the type of succulent. I have tried propagating so many lol. I've tried indoors and outdoors. maybe I will have more luck the warmer it gets. thank you soooooo much for the detailed response. Also, make sure your leaf cuttings are broken clean off the stem and remain whole, or have a small piece of stem at the base of the leaf. Good luck.
