What orientation are your windows, i.e. south, east, etc.?

I'm asking because I recently painted a south facing room (with a large window).I started out with greige (SW Agreeable Gray), grays (BM Gray Owl), then tried SW Creamy --- these are all my go-to colors, but they just didn't work. They were either to yellow (Creamy) or too washed out (Owl). I ended up with Simply White, which is just really amazing, light, bright, warm.

I think you just need to sample the colors in your rooms.

Oh, and check out BM Capitol (Capital?) White.

A large bow window faces north, a small double hung window faces south but is usually covered because the neighbor is close. I plan on new window treatments, possibly a lined woven wood, which will change the light somewhat on the south side.

I've found that bathrooms tend to be a special case for wall color, because I also have to consider how the color makes me look in the mirror. I picked a lovely green in my first apartment without considering that it would make me look green too, especially first thing in the morning. And made putting on makeup difficult too. I've found the same thing with grayer colors as a house guest. In main bathrooms (vs powder rooms etc) I definitely prefer a warmer, more flattering color.
