What color should we repaint these or should we just replace them?

I would keep the shutters and paint them dark gray or brown.... To blend with the roof.

I like the shutters. I would recommend a forest green. It will blend nicely with the trees in the background.

Just keep them and repaint the shutters with something green or gray to complement with the house.

What about this color Or do yall think I need more of a contrast. I will look into a forest green also.

I would add wider molding around the window and loose the shutters.

How old are these particular shutters? Sometimes when you just repaint over the existing colors, they still tend to chip and fade. Timberlane offers the world's finest shutters, including Endurian shutters which are maintenance-free. They come in an array of styles and colors. We recommend wider shutters. You could take ideas from French Style Homes and use a rustic brown shutter (As pictured below). And although you're only interested in shutters you might also consider planting around the left window. Simple curb appeal can make a big difference! Good Luck :)

Like pictured above, Board and Battens would look great.

This is a very cute house! I would try a color like SW6328 Fireweed. It would go with your roof and brick, but bring some life to the house. You could paint your front door the same color as well. n

I like the idea of the wider trim added to the windows.

I find the shutters above too pale. Maybe something like that instead:

thanks suzanne!! this is such a great help!

No problem Kasi, just let me know if you want to try other colors.

I'm not a designer, but the shutters with more contrast look better IMO. The dark ones above the red. What about trying that color with the Fireweed color front door? How would that look?

I would suggest a color that ties in the natural colors of the house. Perhaps a color that brings together the darker shades of the brick and the roof color.. My guess is that that would mean a darker taupe or rich brown. I would not use a bright cheerful color because that would appear too whimsical. It also matters as to what color you are painting the front door. Will they match?

No shutters, but highlight the windows, trim and mullions, in the darker plum color suzanne posted.

I wouldn't match the shutters to the house trim. I think it will look washed out. I suggest a darker color so there is some contrast in colors. I second Suzanne's color choice!

Absolutely, Kasi! That dark brown would look great on the door, too!

Hi suzanne, I like the warm brown # 2 that you have shown above on the shutters. I'd like to add that maybe there should be shutters around the other windows also. I would paint the door "toile red" like 'suzanne' demonstrated.

I think you should beef up the trim around both windows, no shutters on either window. If you really want shutters where they are now, they should be a subdued color pulled from the brick.
Your color should be on your front door to draw the eye and be welcoming. Add some landscaping to the left and right sides, curving toward the path.
