I think you are thinking along the right lines. Pain the inside a surprise colour -- the cheeriest of the blues you are considering -- so that it makes you happy to open the door. I think that might be the bottom of the three, but I'm seeing it on a computer screen and we all know they lie through their teeth.

And that WASH sign? Paint it yellow, or orange. Anything silly and light-hearted.

And put a light in there so that you're not working in shadow.

We have almost the same laundry closet :)
I never thought of painting the inside but that’s a great idea. As mentioned in the previous comment, you could have more lighting. I bought sensor lights (with batteries) at Home Depot and fixed them under the shelves. It’s an easy and cheap fix (around 10$ each).

I have a laundry nook in my upstairs hallway. I removed my doors and I am about to do something like this picture with lighting, countertop and fabric panels to hide the washer and dryer...

Maybe you could use the great paint color you choose, get a countertop, hang a pendant and do a thick wood shelf instead of the wire shelf? I think I would keep the doors though.

Cleo. Love this look. Yes I am definitely changing the shelving! Unfortunately door will have to stay due to it being in my living area. But how pretty it would be every time the doors are opened.

Just remember, the more shelving/storage you have, the more stuff you will make "necessary" to the laundry nook.
