Hard to tell, some of the stone may be wetter than other portions. I would wait a while to see if color gets more uniform. I would also ask your pool builder regarding the difference in color. Agree if that is how it is going to look I would not be happy.

Enclosed a snap shot of one of my steppers that is still partially moist from recent rain. The dark glob you see will look like the rest of the stepper once it dries out. Hope this helps.

Sadly, they were all equally wet. He is trying to get out of replacing pieces with more consistent color stating the fact that it's stone and that is the chance you take. I told him the if the sample pool that he showed me had such variations I would not have gone w/ travertine. I have my fingers crossed for a positive conversation w/ him tomorrow in person.

I wish you luck and hope all turns out ok. Agree that that much variation in stone is not acceptable. Not sure how that happens. I am just a homeowner, not a pro. I have lots of travertine, my pool decking (pool coping is Leuders Limestone), two 8x8 patios off the pool decking and a large patio attached to the house about 12x 28. All have very little variation in color like the picture of the steppers I enclosed. I would either ask that it be replaced with color matched travertine or with another material.

I am sorry you are going through this experience. I built my 2nd pool last year and know how very stressful the process is, lots of mess, cost overruns, the excitement and anticipation to see the completed process and then the devastation when things like this happen. Hang in there. If what you got is not what was shown to you do not accept it without a fight.

Just curious , what was the outcome?

This is supposed to be silver travertine. Is that brown variation acceptable? It looks like noce up against the silver to me. The contractor said he picked up more of the same lot to lay down and it looks very cream and dark gray compared to the 1st batch which looks like much less variation.. Is this normal? He said he just picked up the stone without looking at it 1st but says it is the same lot#.
