I tried every conceivable playroom storage approach. Bins, totes and baskets are teh only way to go.

Aah! The stage in life where it's more fun to take every visible item out of its bin and cubby, as well as remove the bin from its storage place. A 2year old will remove everything from the shelf, including the bin. How much scattered mess do you really want? (Vote-top one) Cheers!

Benefit with the bins in the last photo is that whatever is stored in any bin can be carried to another room, etc. It's an ongoing process. Good luck!

I'd like to also recommend that you not worry about organizing what goes in each bin or keeping like with like. Been there. Done that. And made 20 cute labels with clip art images to boot. Now I call it a win if toys are in a bin. Any bin.

My mother had a great method. We had a large barrel made of very heavy cardboard from her workplace. It was about 30 inches across and 5 feet tall. All the toys went in it. Sometimes, we went in it too. Easy peasy.
