Backsplash ideas

Looking for backsplash ideas for "modern farmhouse kitchen" with white cabinets, white quartz (slight gray marbling) countertops, and Repose gray paint. The backsplash will be the first thing people see with my kitchen. Thanks!

Use wallpaper. The designs are limitless, you can change it as styles and your mood changes, it is relatively cheap, easy to install and easy to clean.

depending on your countertop; its either very plain, and you can go with something interesting, or your counter is interesting, and you need plain. in that case i'd say why not subway? its functional, fits the style, inexpensive, and gives the eyes a rest to enjoy other aspects.

even tho its the first thing you see, if your counter tops are already star quality, you need a supporting player on the backsplash.

If your counters and cabinets are installed, post a picture and give us an idea of what you like so we can help you.

Here is the kitchen. This is the view you will see when you enter the main part of the house. The island is Repose Gray.

    Hi kelle-

Since your backsplash is so important, how about adding some texture and sheen with something like these genuine mother of pearl that are so interesting but not too busy and work with your white cabinets, the grey veining in your quartz and the grey paint of your island.

Would love to see your idea book! We are having the same dilemma, and ironically enough, have the exact same color scheme as you - white shaker cabinets, gray island, white quartz counters with slight gray veining. We've considered subway tiles but thought it might be too white with no contrast, so also considered either a white hexagon with gray grout or doing subway in herringbone pattern. We also found this cracked blue that we are really considering as well. Let's share some ideas! I'd love to hear what you decided on!

Sounds like you need some color. I absolutely love the blue crackle that jess posted. Encore has a lot of fun colors as well.

Consider using honed marble subway tiles in a large size. <http://www.carraratiles.com>; I found their tiles to be very consistent in color (I wanted predominantly white), and they were a delight to deal with. VERY happy.

I would not put a real marble stone backsplash against a faux marble countertop. I would stick with ceramic.
