The easiest is a console table with a bowl or basket for mail and keys.

Do you own any antiques? How about a roll top desk or a spinning wheel or dry sink?

Another idea is a bench. Benches always look inviting and cozy. No one ever sits in them, but they LOOK cozy.

If you need purse and mitten storage, how about an awesome dresser?

Agree with chocolatebunny123 above. You have an opportunity to showcase your home's style in the foyer with a small vignette. There are many different ways to show your style here. See below. Same basic elements, totally different styles/messages.

I am assuming that you took the photo from the door so the wood is actually the foyer. Is that right, or is your door to the right? It is hard to tell from the pic posted.

Oops! I just noticed that auntthelma posted the one above earlier. Still the same point about having a chair, table, lamp and art can bring totally different messages to the area. Lighting will make a big impact on the feel, in addition to the furniture.

This is simple but maybe at least a tall plant and a more creative photo collage extra seating is always nice so maybe a short cushioned bench too.
