I'm not sure what you were expecting, but that's how you do it. You could stain the grout a little darker. Would that help?

On mesh-mounted mosaics, the grout lines are predetermined, so it's not the thickness of the grout lines that can change, it's the grout color here that is the culprit. Choosing a grout color for a multi-color mosaic is difficult. The current grout can be changed with grout colorant. Ideally, using a glitter or glass grout closer to the darker colors in the
first place would have not looked as "heavy" in the joints, but if starting over on this picture frame is not an option, going darker with a grout colorant may do the trick! :) There is too much grout in the corner joints though for sure, but don't enhance the corners as it at least blends with the pencils. Maybe somewhere around a Mapei Walnut to Navajo Brown color would be a good solution - look at the mosaic, if you were to blend the four colors into one, what would that color be? That's the grout colorant that will help with the look of wider, distracting grout lines. :)

I agree that the accent is too small. I'd have made it the full width of the panel between the cabinets and the full height of that space (but I also would not have used those tiles; they don't coordinate with the field tiles).

But the problem is easily solved with grout colorant. The problem is that the grout just stands out too much; soften it.

Thanks so much for your opinion. Do we have to scrape away the existing grout before we use the grout colorant? And how do we safely do it? I truly appreciate your professional opinion. I was trying to find some recommendations on the mosaic tile website for grout but could not find any specifics other than non sand grout. Should have posted my request on this amazing website with great experience.

You can get grout sealer in any paint color. Simply apply it to the grout with a small brush. Try not to get it on the tile, and wipe it off if you do, but it will come off the tile no matter what.

Amazon sells the grout paint. I used an old tooth brush, super easy to do and it works awesome! Good Luck!

Eliminate it and continue the field tile.

Sophie is right--take it out and just have the field tile. The inset is too small and was a dated look a few years ago.

I would just go to groutshields.com and pick a darker color grout.

I would change the glass tile out into a different pattern .

Any suggestions for accent tile are welcome. I am not sure how much the contractor would charge to redo.
