But what happens now, in terms of tree growth? I mean, I would expect the pruned branches to get offshoots, and then when will they bloom?

The trees flower on the stems that have finished growing. I don't know how Meyers grow and bloom. If Meyers are ever-bearing then it might flower after the fresh growth has hardened.

Sounds like a common conversation i have with my friends and associates. That is, damage control after the mow and blow guys attempt caring for citrus. Did they sterilize their tools before trimming? Likely not. They may have complicated your sizing task, or not. It depends on the goal you have for the tree.

As far as fruit, the Meyer is so productive that I don't think you will miss much. Good luck!

Thanks, George! Actually he isn't a mow and blow guy, but a painstaking weed and prune by hand guy, which is why this was a first!

At the tip of each, or most, of the cut ends your tree will produce 1, 2 or even 3 new side flushes of growth. These will more than likely all be vegetative flushes, not floral flushes. However, being as precocious as Meyer lemons are,, the tree might produce some flowers later this spring or summer. This tree will get a GREAT bloom next year.
