Half Bath Wall Tile

last modified: 8 years ago

I’d like to put some wall tile in the half bath to add some style ... it’s pretty drab right now. Some of the mosaic/glass tile I’ve seen is pretty stylish, but, I don’t want to break the bank. So I figured I could do just the bottom of the wall ... from 4 inches above the sink down to the baseboard. However if I do that, I’m not sure how to separate the tile from the painted drywall above. Another option is to tile just one wall. If I did that, what wall should I do? If I tile a whole wall, I’m leaning towards doing the wall that faces the hallway (the one next to the toilet). Another option would be to tile the wall which the sink is on. I have these ideas but I really have a hard time coming to a final decision. I could use some help deciding on the final details.

What I’m looking for, design-wise, is something that matches my house. So I’ve included pics of my kitchen, fireplace, and entry with stairs. I don’t know what style it is, maybe it’s “contemporary”?? Please correct me if wrong. The kitchen and fireplace have dark grey glass tile. Carpet is light grey. Cabinets are white. All countertops in the house are New Caledonia granite. Hard flooring in the bathroom is a very grey-toned reclaimed-wood-look laminate.

Edit: not sure if it matters but the half bath ceilings are 9 ft, with 8 ft doors.

Here are some links to tile I was thinking of using:

I like this one, though the tiles are larger than I'd like, and I don't think they are meant for walls:

Carrara marble (real or just the look on porcelain) is also nice. Or this: https://www.flooranddecor.com/ledgers-stone/harbor-gray-splitface-quartzite-panel-ledger-100193457.html#start=16

My wife really likes this arabesque glass tile: https://www.flooranddecor.com/glass-tile/arabesque-fleur-gray-water-jet-cut-glass-mosaic-100032630.html#prefn1=shape&prefv1=Arabesque&start=2

.. but we don't want to go too dark, or the entire bathroom will suffer (there are no windows).
