We have a large (open concept) loft with a space that includes both our living area space (couch, etc.) and the dining area. We have hardwood floors but with a rug in the living room area and we want to add another rug under the dining area to help frame each space.

The problem is: our table is 71" X 37.5" (5.9 feet X 3.1 feet) and am struggling with the size of rug to purchase. The most we could fit in the space would be 96" X 60" (8 feet X 5 feet). Is that large enough or do we need it to be bigger?

I have seen blogs on both sides but most seem to say we should get a 10 feet X 8 feet rug, but that would make the space looked cramped as it would be pressed up against the walls.
