Consistency in flooring is always preferred. It really does make any space seem larger IMO. Bedrooms may be carpeted but, again, I would use the same carpet in all.

In order to give a better response its always best to see the floor plan as it relates to overall flow of the space. Generally speaking to have the same flooring throughout lends itself to the home being more spacious - that being said however having the general area where the traffic flow is more its good to have a hard surface and then transition to the bedrooms into softer softer such as woods. Either way is quite acceptable depending on ones personal choices and lifestyles.

I am not sure what you mean by wood and hardwood but usually I like the same flooring through spaces that are open to eachother but bathrooms can be different

You can get creative and do tile or metal inlays. Or install a wood and tile pattern floor design. You will have a unique floor. Finishing it can be challenging, depending on how sophisticated the design is.

Pros will always tell you that having the same floor throughout is best. Personally however, I want a floor in the kitchen that will be as close to waterproof as possible. The rest of the house can be completely different. And obviously bathrooms are usually different, in most homes. I don’t really care whether it’s tile and hardwood, hardwood and carpet, tile and carpet, or tile hardwood and carpet. It’s whatever suits your living needs.
