I did come across Evergreen while googling for yardlong seeds. Too many varieties - kinda like a big box of crayons.

I love eating long bean. Never did pay much attention on the seeds, but I feel like the ones I grab from the local market have the white seeds (typically). Then again, I've defin. eaten ones with darker seeds too. The only thing I do know is that I def. prefer the lighter pods over the darker green ones.

I second the rattle snakes. They handle our heat better than any others.

Dang cutworms must love long yard green beans. 12-15 long foot trellis. All in the same long row. Transplanted all at the same time. Fortex and Reds Longs are good. Cutworms went to town on the green longs. I think I might have about 8 or less left in the ground. Ehh, wait till the weeklong rain stops and time to sow again.

I've ordered from Evergreen several times, although not recently. They have periodically gone inactive, then resumed business. Never tried to contact them, so can't vouch for their response time one way or the other.

Aw shucks. Thx anyhow. I did come across Evergreen in my long bean search. They seem to be the e-merchant who had various kinds of beans - tailored/centric around asian seeds. Every other merchant offers a green yardlong/red yardlong - single type with not much background info.

For long beans, two other good sources are Kitazawa (10 varieties), and Baker Creek (5 varieties). Never ordered from Kitazawa personally, but a friend who has speaks highly of them.

Baker Creek has carried more varieties in the past, so some varieties might be sold out this year. I still grow two varieties obtained from Baker Creek (Chinese Red Noodle and Taiwan Black), and will be trialing Thai Soldier this year.
