It would be 100x easier to just change the trim to match the cabinets. There isn't a huge difference in color, and the trim isn't anything fancy.

OK that’s not what I’m asking I don’t want to be rude but I’m asking for people who have experience with general finishes gel stain to give their opinion on what color they think would be best on the cabinets, nothing else. Please don’t waste your time commenting if you’re not going to answer the question directly.

Lol, ok, so spend months sanding and staining to change your cabinets one shade instead of spending a couple hours changing the trim. Talk about wasting your time.

They are my cabinets if I don’t like the color of them then I’m going to change them whether that’s staining or painting . The question doesn’t read what do you think I should do to my kitchen?, it’s a specific question asking for a color suggestion of a specific product .

There’s not enough color difference between the two to make gel stain a viable option. You need to want to go several shades darker in order for it to work. Most people go super dark because the lighter colors look like smeared on paint. Because gel stain isn’t actually wood stain. It’s a translucent coating that is more like a thinner paint than a stain.

What you want isn’t going to work. Wanting it to work doesn’t make it physically possible.

Thanks! I found a local GF retailer and she is going to let me borrow some chip samples to take home and match. And also a sample of the gel stain to see how it looks in person.

The trim on the window looks to be pine cause I don't see any heavy gaining. It was already stained darker to match the oak. It will be a nightmare to exact match.
