Hi, do you have a photo to attach, by chance?

Yes here is a photo of my dining room. I do NOT like the current

hanging fixture and it is gold. I see many on your site and so confused.

Yes I need your help and expertise to guide me. Thanks a lot! :)

yeah thanks for ALL your comments about my decor and my stuff. I just want to know about what LIGHT FIXTURE would look good in there. nothing else I need help on thank you very much. I am not removing the rug/ or the clock or the pictures. They mean a lot to me. I just bought this table. and LOVE IT. I want to LOVE my light fixture as well. Question is: black or silver ........close to the ceiling or hanging.

    thanks oh so much AGAIN

How high is your ceiling? From what I can tell from your photo, I would go with a hanging fixture that is ~36" above your table. Your room looks small so look for something that is not overwhelming. As Ingrid said, go with black or silver. I also agree with her about the clock. If it means a lot to you, put is somewhere else where it will shine. Right now it looks lost on the wall. Search for black or silver dining room chandeliers and see what sings to you.

I think silver would be good if you're going to buy new. If you're going to

spray paint it, then I would do it black. ( I sprayed my brass chaddy several

    years ago.

I love the little clock, think about moving

it to the smaller wall where you have the small picture.

What's wrong with this fixture? It looks just fine. If you insist on changing it up I would do something with a ton of character to go along with everything else. Or super spare, small, and minimalist to let the other decor shine. Ikea is a good resource either way.

Could you post some pictures of things you like as examples?

What about a black pendant lighting fixture to complement the other black accents?

Your rug and furniture look more modern/contemporary than traditional. Without seeing the rest of the house, I'd aim for something more sleek and contemporary. Either black or silver could work, but personally I'd probably go with silver-tone (chrome, brushed nickel, etc) to contrast the table.

Lightupmyhome Weston Rectangular Crystal Chandelier, Antique Silver, Choose Size · More Info

I am assuming you are taking the photo with your back to another wall and you look at the table, from either entrance, the wide side and not short side.

So, I would do retangular in shape and choose 1/2 the size of the table (long side) and hung about 34” off the table top.

Lots of stores have this chandelier, so you can find your best price, but I love this for your table…paticularly the black metal trim.

All the light fixtures posted above are nice ideas , now lets look at the rug , I don't know how you feel about it! but to me it looks a bit small , I'm thinking when you will pull the chairs out the back legs will be off the rug , any opinions on that ?

OP nixed removing the clock, artwork and rug, then has been absent from the discussion.

I think it can be difficult when someone asks for help about a specific part of their space (in this case the light fixture) and the first response, which seems to have been since deleted, suggests changing out everything else. I don't blame the OP for not returning. Hopefully the OP will return and see that others do want to help with the light fixture question. And maybe this can be a reminder to the rest of us to be kind to each other, even in the anonymity of the internet.
