Just went to their open house. Had a great visit with Lynn H. While they packed our purchases for the airline. Also won a drawing for a huge new Phal. Still family run; I had the opposite feeling, like I was dealing with old friends.

You're welcome Bill. Odom's is like a big mom and pop operation. One of the biggest cattleya growers in the US. 20 miles down the road from me. They are tremendous friends to our orchid group. We like them and they like us.

Andy’s is a favorite of mine. Real nice guy and a huge selection of plants. They print temp, water and light info on the plant tags, their web site is also a good source for care info. They do a 10% discount if you order on line and pick up at a show, which also saves on shipping cost.

Paul and Ben, thank you both for the information! Paul, I don't care much about prices, but it's good to know. And anyway the place where I can grow them is limited to my sunroom, and it's already pretty crowded with about 31 plants of various types. Ten of those are orchids. Of course I haven't used up spaces to hang plants, so I may be tempted. It's hard to restrain oneself once the orchid itch sets in!

That can make Andy's even more dangerous --- he has LOTS of minis and micro minis .....

I'm in the Northeast and just purchased a species phalaenopsis from OrchidWeb.com. They waited until the weather was okay to ship and the orchid was carefully wrapped and has what looks like fresh sphag so I don't need to repot immediately. The orchid was in good condition as far as I could tell. My mother recently sent me a Potinara from Logee's that also was well wrapped and in good condition. I've also purchased orchids from Carter and Holmes in the past.
