Furniture layout

I’m looking for suggestions for how to lay out furniture in this ‘hearth room’ adjacent to the kitchen. We envision having both our kitchen table and a sitting area but aren’t quite sure how to place both given the fireplace in the middle. We still have the family room to the right of the kitchen so don’t need a huge sitting area. We also have a large family so would want at least an 9–10ft table if it would work in the space. Any suggestions?

Hi. Nice layout!

I would just use a long dining table in this area and forget about the seating area. I don't see any space for a sitting area. When you try to crowd a room with furniture, it just begins to look cluttered.

I agree with CDR Design as stated. A very large dining table is what is needed for your Hearth Room. In addition I would place a tall wing back chair on each side of the fireplace. Lovely home plan, best wishes!

How to declutter

Start by taking everything out of a space that you are going to declutter. Methodically start putting back essentials and begin your plan for the layout of a room/space. Start deciding what you don't really need, use or like. Make piles for storage, give away and throw away. Only hold on to those essentials and things that work well with your design and purpose. Then when you put things back in you can determine the effect on the room and if it works or not. Keep it looking clean and classy and stay focused on your goal for the space and the use. Best wishes!
